Kindergarten Readiness

Minnesota Statute 120A.20(b) states that students will not be enrolled into a Kindergarten class unless they are at least five years of age on September 1 of the calendar year in which the school year for the pupil seeks admission commences.  New Millennium accepts scholars with birthdates to October 30.  Kindergarten assessments will be conducted with children who will be five years of age prior to October 30 of that year.  Assessments will consist of identifying information in the areas of number sense, reading and writing literacy, self-regulation skills, and social/emotional development.

Kindergarten Summer class is an option in the months of June / July (follows the dates of the NMA Summer School program for all students) is strongly recommended for all children entering Kindergarten, to transition them into the school, to engage them in academic skills and stamina necessary for all-day Kindergarten, and to build a relational foundation of familiarity with their teacher(s) and peers.

Lottery Procedures

In the event New Millennium has more applicants than open spaces at any grade level, the School will conduct a lottery to determine students who are offered enrollment at the school and those students who are placed on waiting lists.  Click here for a copy of the Lottery Procedures.

Sibling Preference

Siblings of currently enrolled students who submit an application will receive preference for admission.  In the event we have more sibling applicants than open spaces at any grade level, we will conduct a lottery among all of the sibling applicants provided the sibling status is still valid.  Siblings who are not chosen in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list and notified promptly if a space becomes available.
